International College of Health Sciences (ICHS) June 2021

Published

Hey there I am starting the RN program at international college of health sciences in Florida in June and wanted to see who else is going to be traveling for school.

I know with Covid everything Kinda changed, but would love to hear from anyone else who attended the school before Covid.I wanna know if they experience is the same.

Haven’t started .. planning to start in August

Specializes in Nursing Student.

@KittyLVN2 what other schools do you recommend that take nursing transfer students.

Anyone starting in July 2021? fundamental & pharm

Yes, I am. You?

Starting in august

You ar not alone @KittyLVN2. I hope everyone listens to you. Due to covid clinical req were lifted in FL and still ICHS is holding back students from graduating because they have no clinical dates. They minus well let us due virtual clinicals because the main thing done is clinicals is a bed bath, most of us are already nurses and have far more skills than that. Everybody is accepted at ICHS, but not eceryone finishes. Once you invest your money, you don't have any choices, except to put up with whatever S(*t that is dished.  @KittyLVN2...was you able to find any dates for clinical??

What is going on with the last two cohorts that have finished courses but have not yet gotten clinicals?  What is the school telling you?  Now the next session has been put off another month after finals we’re pushed back a month.  There’s only supposed to be two weeks between each session.  What is this Typhon!?  Another tool to use against students to tell them they don’t have enough clinicals to proceed?  Something tells me this school is in trouble.

Has anyone heard of student doing clinicals in California?? Im not sure how accurate it is but a co worker told me they are allowing student to find there own clinical sites?

That's awesome! Where are you traveling from? Are you coming with your all your general ED classes already or do you have or LVN?

I have all my general ED classes done and they all transferred. So I jump right into the nursing core classes.

hello!  how is it going so far?  I'm in the same situation looking to start October 2021.  It's either that or go for the LVN here in CA and then strait to and LVN to RN program.

Let me put it this way, 90% of the students have only negative things to say about it and many of them don't wanna talk about it because they are still in the program. My whole batch is so pissed off at school due to unannounced changes that took place. Professors quitting left to right. And for clinical we go to nursing home. How the hell we suppose to get our training in nursing home changing bed linens and diaper changes. As for the exit exam, they purposefully make it harder for students to pass. I took exit exam as well in my lvn school but they give 3 or 4 tries unlike 2 tries and you are out of the program. As for clinical hours they want us to meet their requirements and hours but they don't have clinical sites available for us. Many of us needs to do 20 to 40 days of clinical days in florida but we barely have 4 or 5 days booked. It sucks for us out of state ppl. The only good thing about this program is getting into the program. Yes its easy to get into the program because they want your money and the hardest thing is to graduate. It's all fun and games until u are in the last semester. Let me tell you this now forget about going together for clinicals to florida so u can save your expenses because all the clinical dates are so spread out and prepare for flying there alone and staying there alone. Students are responsible for booking for cliniclas on moodle but the dates arent available. When they opened clinicals weeks ago, they were all booked in minutes and since then nothing is available. I was suppose to graduate in April cuz thats what they told me 10 months because I passed my gap test and now in may they have exit exam date is unsure and I still need to do clinical hours before I can take the exit exam. I m not graduating anytime soon. Give or take maybe graduating in august or September if everything goes planned. Meanwhile everyone in cali is graduating so far on time and are able to go to clinicals. But ichs states its due to covid that clinicals sites arent available. Thats is their job to find clinical spots for us and we pay them for it. Majority of us are working full time, have family , making monthly tuition fees ans still not knowing if we are able to graduate or not. The staff is so rude except one or two instructors but the faculty they don't wanna tale responsibility for anything and they blame it on students. I still recommend finding other schools. Any other school but ichs. Look at other threads, u can find many former students only saying negative things and felt lucky to be able to graduate on time. I pray day and night to be able to graduate. But in the end, its your decision but please try other schools first especially the ones that have financial aid available because those schools are reliable. Good luck

Hello,

I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that!! that really sucks!  Have they made it right yet and have you been able to graduate?  Was the biggest problem the lack of clinical sites?  Also, do they not offer financial aid??

Thank you!!

@Erica1088 @Hapanese908 hey workload is not an issue. It's the school which is a big problem. The staff doesnt know what they are doing. I know you have all made a decision to go to this school. I d still recommended looking elsewhere. This school should be your last resort. I have been making monthly tuitions among many others. Not everyone gets approved for meritize loan. They keep enrolling students but are not doing enough like for example finding more clinical spots for students so they can graduate. I have been behind like 3 months now past the graduation date they have told me when I started the program. I m telling all of you ahead of time that your graduation will be 3-6 months late  or more regardless if there is covid or not. Thats just how they are. Professor are quitting left to right. Workload is not an issue, Its the school. If you have decided to go to this school. Study Study Study for your exit exam the first day. You fail this twice, they may or may not give you the remediation to take last semester again and take the final test one more time and you cant sit for boards and you are done! Many more reputable schools don't make the exit exam priority and even if you fail the exit, you can sit for boards. I d recommend finding that school. Good luck!

One more question... do you know of any other schools where yiu can take classes online and then travel once per semester to do clinicals?  I don't have my LVN, just my pre-reqs.
