I'm about to gradute in May 2008 (ADN, my second degree). I had my BS in computer science and already used my OPT. What should i do frist? Do they allow me to take NCLEX before my new OPT go through? From my school in NY, i heard we had to wait for about 3 months, basically we would take NCLEX in Sep or Oct! What month should i put apply for my OPT? and what if i want to move to CA? New grad for NY to CA with ADN? Hard to get a job?
Some inputs please!
thanks for all :hrnsmlys:

I don't understand. You had your BSN already? Do you mean you had a bachelors already and now are getting an ADN? Are you able to get an OPT if you already used it for your bachelors. I know you can get
an OPT for ADN and then again if you get a higher degree but not sure if it works the same way if you go backwards. Have you checked into that? I would wait to get OPT until you actually have a licence. Because of retrogression I have heard many employers are not willing to hire a new grad unless there is a guarantee of at least 1 year of work authorization.

If you used the OPT for a Bachelor's degree, you will be unable to use the OPT for a lesser degree. The only way that you could use the OPT now was if you were getting a Master's degree. It is only valid for a higher degree if you have already used it once, you cannot go back to a lesser degree.
OPT is strictly for working and has nothing to do with taking the NCLEX exam. At this point in time, I suggest that you take the time to find out if you really meet the requirements for the OPT, what you have posted tells me that you will not be able to get it. And therefore are not going to be able to work in any location when you graduate in a few months.
If you had a BSN, why did you go back for the ADN? Something is not adding up here at all.
We are under a retrogression at this time, so there are no visas available. You may have to continue on with school to remain in the US under a student visa.

No second OPT will be granted by USCIS, that's for sure. You have only 60 days after graduation to either leave the country or continue attending the school.
