  1. I have an advise to all new grads who can't find a job in MA. Don't waste your time! Go somewhere else! A lot of hospitals in other states offer relocation assistance. Go to new places, meet new people! But please, please, please, don't waste your time in Mass. Because time is money
  2. Do you really need a long orientation to learn how to wipe somebody's butt?
  3. Don't go to Michigan. Very soon, only CG holders and US citizens will be eligible for driver's license in that state http://blogs.ilw.com/gregsiskind/2008/01/michigan-commit.html all other will have to walk or to ride a bicycle.
  4. I don't think it's realistic to get hired fast in your situation. I would suggest to take your board in FL and to get at least one year of experience there. Please, spend some time reading this forum. You will see that for some new grads in Mass it takes as long as 6-7 month to get hired. Those who get hired fast usually work there as techs, CNAs, etc. Since you can't do that, presumably, it will be easier to get a job in Mass if you have at least a year of experience. I guaranty that nobody will even look at your resume at this time. They don't care about your grades either.
  5. Yes, it was posted in 2006 and nothing has changed since then! There is no information on the Web about mysterious Memo, that nobody, but moderators of this website aware of. You could not provide a link or the text of the Memo you are taking about so far. Those who keep notices all year round are not required to wait for 30 days, because they can always claim that those 30 days have already passed. And I don't now what documentation you are talking about that unionized hospitals did not have enough time to provide. They had about 45 days to do that. My guess is that it has to do with bureaucracy, not with the documentation. In fact, in order to file I-140/I-485 before July 31, 2007, the non-unionized hospitals had to post the notice not later then June 18, 2007, that's just right after July 2007 visa bulletin was published. My hospital did not have the notice posted before that, so they had to act fast to be able to file before the deadline.
  6. The 10 day job posting notice has nothing to do with the individual applicant. A hospital has to place it on the board for the position, not for the individual. At some hospitals such notice is posted all year round. I saw another memo which stated that even if the notice is not submitted with the application, they will issue an RFE. Now, those who filed for AOS from B1/B2 visas right after they entered the country, are definitely looking for trouble. But again, a lot will depend on the officer assigned to the case. I've never heard about the memo that requires to submit a copy of the visacreen at the time of filing. If VSC is not submitted at the time of initial filing they will issue a RFE about it. That's a standard practice and I've provided a link in my previous post. Can you provide a link, or at least a text of the Memo that you are talking about?
  7. I agree that they should require visascreen at the time I140/I-485 is filed. But so far it's OK to submit I-485 without it. The Immigration will issue the RFE later. Were did you get the information that it's required at the time of initial filing?
  8. As Suzanne has explained to you already, there no visas for nurses available at this time. Regardless of were you came from. It may or may not change in 2008. So far your only option is to apply for OPT for one year. Then you need to go back to school to maintain your F-1 status or to change to a different status. Just open google.com and spend some time researching. P.S. I'm really surprised that so many people who plan to immigrate to the US and attend school here have no clue about current immigration situation, considering the fact that so much information is available through the World Wide Web nowadays.:icon_roll
  9. http://www.cgfns.org/sections/about/news/news/2006/08-11-06_vs.shtml Nothing changed since then, as far as I know. I could not find any information on the Web that it was changed either.
  10. Actually, as far as I know, one can apply for adjustment of status without VisaScreen Certificate, but the Immigration will issue an RFE and will not approve the petition without it. Many July/August 2007 filers applied for AOS without Visascreen in hand.
  11. I doubt that you will be able to get your opt after you get your bsn, since it's not just bsn, but bsn/msn program.
  12. The DS published the statistics about EB visas used in FY 2006. The Philippines alone used 20,289 "Schedule A" visas in FY 2006. That's more then 40% of the quota used by the single country! http://travel.state.gov/pdf/FY06AnnualReportTableVPart1-3.pdf
  13. No second OPT will be granted by USCIS, that's for sure. You have only 60 days after graduation to either leave the country or continue attending the school.
  14. New grads in many parts of the country have difficulty finding a first job, especially in big cities, California is not an exception. There is a shortage in those (mostly rural) areas where working conditions are bad and nurses are underpaid. Foreign RNs won't stay there for long, that's for sure. Also, most of the nursing school here in the U.S. have waiting lists, because so many Americans want to become nurses. Senate has to come up with solution for nursing faculty shortage in the first place, this will resolve so-called "shortage".
  15. That's because in place like Manhattan it costs up to $1,000/month to rent a parking spot. NYC is so crowded and expensive... And you can not compare NY climate to CA climate either... I've heard that at some NY hospitals ratios are 1:7, 1:8. Is that true?
