Interm permit (IP)

Published

Hi there

I'm new to this but I figured you all would be the best to ask. I just graduated from the nursing program and I'm still pending for my test date and IP... i just received a spot in NICU and without my IP I can't work there yet. Someone told me for California boards if you go to Sacramento to the main office you can get it approved that day.. Is that true? I just would like to know before I make that drive that if it will work or is it not worth it. Can't get a hold of them by phone due to the high volume of calls they are receiving so I'm out of chooses plus financially need to start working .. would appreciate the help please. Thanks

Shoot if I had an opportunity like that I would march myself right into the offices. Provided that you do not live in San Diego...I suppose it would depend on how far away it is. Or maybe try going to a local office first?

I once renewed my license in person and they gave me a receipt that they embossed with their seal and told me that it took the place of my official license until I received it in the mail. This was for my LVN license. I would certainly think the same thing would apply for the RN license, and I don't see why it would not be the same for an initial license. Worth a trip. Make certain to arrive early in the morning between Tuesday and Thursday to get the best service.

If memory serves, they can no longer issue IP's at the desk now that they're on the BreEZe system.

Here's a link to their FAQ about this...

That BreEZe system sucks. Now makes it impossible to look up a license if you do not have all the information.

Thanks for the heads up but since my IP is pending I wonder if that is different then not having one at all and doing that doesn't exactly say.. im just stressing been told to go and bring everything with me...

Ya Tuesday was my plan to leave here first thing the drive is a 3 hour trip... thank you all so much

You don't have to have all the information, but it's certainly different now... you used to be able to look up by first name and county of residence. Now you have to have at least a couple letters of the last name and/or a first name or a license number to look someone's license info up.

I tried to look up some buddies and was unable to do so only using portions of the name, whereas under the old system, I had no problem finding their record.

It's definitely different than it was. I was easily able to look up an instructor or two of mine using just 3 letters of their last name and 2 or 3 letters of their first name. I think the old system was a little easier if you have multiple people with very similar names, you could have separated them out by county of residence, thus narrowing down the choices.

Yeah. And the disciplinary records (a source of good time wasting entertainment) was a lot easier to access. It was all there for you.
