Inova hospital question

I was reading an article about how Inova hospitals are supposed to be a great hospital for working mothers. It mentioned that Inova gives a discount to local daycare chains. Does anyone know anything about that?

Also, what are the shifts like at Inova? Mostly 12 hour or does it vary by unit and job?

We just moved to this area and I'm getting back in to nursing after being home with my kids for 8 years. :)

Since no one else has answered I will throw in what I know--very little,lol I'm a student and did my OB rotation at Fairfax last semester, anf start my Phsyc rotation there next Friday! In OB, I believe the few nurses I followed around mainly worked 12 hr shifts. But I know at other hospitals where I have completed my rotations, it seemed the hours varied, some did 8 hrs, some 12. And I thought that Fairfax offered daycare right at the hospital, as i recall 1 RN complaining about the hours they were open, didnt suit her hours that she worked.

Hopefully someone else will chime in, and if I can remember, I will ask a staff member about hours and daycare. But I'm only a man with a tiny tiny brain,lol Welcome to the VA region, sorry about the traffic, it sucks!!

i'm not a nurse at inova fairfax but i do work there in a different capacity. they do have onsite daycare but it is not cheap at all. a coworker of mine has her kids there a few days a week so that's how i know. the shifts depend on what department you work...8s, 12s. i can say though that i am greatly disappointed in the health insurance that is offered. you'd think that since you work at a hospital you'd have good health insurance but it's not the case here. if you have a spouse i'd recommend getting health insurance through them.

Which Inova hospital are you asking about? All of them in general, or any in particular?
