Information meeting at WCCCD

U.S.A. Michigan

Did anyone go to the information meeting at WCCCD last night? What were your thoughts on it?

I left feeling well informed, but surprised at some of the changes they made. I think half of the people there were left feeling a little dismal about it all. What did you think?

Feel free to PM me!

I honestly think gpa's very per smester. I applied for Spring 08 with a 3.3, and didn;t get in yet, my co-worker applied for Fall 08 with a 3.1 and was accepted. So it just varies, it's just a chance that we have to take. I don't know I'll do if i don't get in this time....seriously. I took some simple stuff over like Psych and Englist trying to get A's. My other classes are pretty good, A's and B's. I'm a nervous wreck!!!:crying2::crying2::crying2:

I do know how you feel! It wears on your nerves no matter what! BTW, I found where they posted about the NW campus moving to the new campus this fall. It is in the Summer Schedule Catalog under the NW section. They are definitely moving to the new campus this Fall....That is very cool! If you get in what campus are you going to try and get? Either one is fine with me...I am closer to Western, but I wouldn't mind going to the new NW either.

A friend of mines that I work with is in her last semster at WCCC and she did tell me that they were changing to a pass/fail for grading in clinical I believe. I have heard so many diffetrent stories about GPA's I'm not sure what to believe. I hope I at least get selected as an alternate for the program. One good thing my friend did tell me was that during spring break for students who want to attend got to go on an all expense paid trip to london and it counts as 2 credits of international studies and that this will continue. So I would go if it's offered for the experience. I would like to go to the eastern or northwestern campuses if I get a good lottery. But I did hear that the instructors at the Western campus were easier.

i too hd heard about the London trip, for 4th semester students over spring break...i would hope that opportunity would pertain to all students, but what about those of us that graduate in december?

A friend of mine went on the London trip this past spring break! She said it was awesome!

Sillyrabbit, at the information meeting they said that they are no longer going to offering nursing classes at eastern and they are moving the NW campus to the new location for Fall. As far as Western instructors being easier, from what I have heard they are not easier at all. In my friends class there were a lot who failed their first 7 weeks at western. There was one instructor that I heard is like a drill sergeant there LOL but I dont remember her name. I am petrified to start because of the stories I have heard!

Wyandotte,

I am not sure about the December graduating class. I would call and ask them. Maybe because this is the first year they started it, they may have another trip in the works for winter break. I couldn't imagine them excluding anyone...but then again...nothing is ever as it seems.

Let us know if you find anything out!

Hey I found out about the study abroad thingie...They did one in November for the Dec 2007 graduating class and they went to India. The only downfall to the Dec graduating class is they go over Thanksgiving break and you will have to miss classes/clinicals to go on the trip because the trip is for 10 days. They leave it up to you to chose. There is definitely more information about this, but this is what I found out so far!

3rd term student here. If I have learned ONE thing (and I've learned LOTS), it's that you should NOT listen to what others say about the instructors. They are ALL drill sergeants (just some of them aren't as intimidating & demeaning as the others). And YOU are about to enter boot camp!

If you think the drill sergeants are bad, just WAIT until you get into clinical & see how "helpful" the Nurses are! This is my 5th rotation--in as many hospitals & I can count the helpful nurses on ONE hand & I used to wait tables w/one of them & another was a student from another school! They are only preparing you for the real world of nursing! This thread is an interesting read.:uhoh21:

hahaha western instructors scary/harder!!:bugeyes: I may be a 1st year student, but I have western instructors, and they are great. They LOVE their job, and Love to teach.FNA (for anyone who had 'em) NS is hard, no matter WHO you have.. but if you want it, you can do it!!:redbeathe:redbeathe Not to mention, there are many MANY people who WANT to see you do well. Including those on here. :yeah:

CANT WAIT FOR SUMMER!!! even though, I will still be in classes.. :uhoh3:

Thank god it's only Pharm!!

**:nurse:**

FNA = FUTURE NURSES OF AMERICA!!!

Many of the teachers teach at both campuses. Nursing School at Western is no harder or better than at Northwest, as far as the instructors go. (Speaking from experience of having nursing classes at both.)

BTW, I am not implying that anyone said that Western was better.
