HB 2711 has been introduced. If it passes - each school district with 1000 or more students must have a full time nurse at every campus. Also, it calls for a nurse for every 500 students. I wonder why the number is lower than the 750 that NASN recommends....
However, it would be great if it passes. I am being told that I will have to take an additional school next year because my projected enrollment is less than 750. I am at a middle school with lots of drug problems and other mental health issues. I really want be at my school full time.
Here is a link for more info.

I hope it passes also. If not I will probably get a second school added also. I only have 540 or so, and will lose about 75 next year due to redistricting. So, I can pretty much count on a second school otherwise!

Does anyone know if this was addressed / passed? We are looking for information to keep our school district from filling an open nurse position with an unlicensed "aide"!

1:225 chronically ill students
1:125 medically fragile
1:1 for students who need constant care: ventilators etc.
