Hi! I'm looking to see if anyone knows any information at all about Brighton Gardens aka Sunrise Senior Living in Mountainside, NJ. My grandmother is 94 and she will be moving there in the next few weeks and I'd like any inside information I can get please. I'd just like to know any information at all about the staff, facility, care, food, residents...literally any and all information anyone might want to share!! Thank you!!! :heartbeat

I was a "Mystery Shopper" for the Sunrise Senior Living and Brighton Gardens, although not in that state. They are wonderful facilities, well staffed, really well maintained and the rooms are very nice. There was a thread about this some months back, so if you search for it you will see the same type of positive responses.

I worked for them when I was a teenager as a server in the dining area (long time ago) and I was so impressed with the care! I loved it there. The residents were phenomenal. The staff really took care of them.

Hi I'm new here and I work for a Sunrise owned skilled facility in the DC area so I don't know this specific place and my area is different then the Brighton Garden experience, but I can say that Sunrise is one of the best places I've worked. The company and staff try put emphasis on individual needs instead of just diagnosis, and trust me this is a great thing for your grandmother.

Thank you both very much. My grandmother is very special to me and at her age it will be a difficult transition for her after so many years of being on her own (my grandfather died about 30 years ago). I live about 1 1/2 hours away so I won't be able to just pop in at any given hour of the day to see a true feel of the day in and out stuff. I'm also headed into my clinicals this coming semester so I know I won't be able to visit as much as I'd like. I'm really glad you both reported good things even one is concerning another state and the other is from awhile ago, it gives me a little piece of mind! Thank you very much!

I also wasn't in the state you mentioned. Sunrise is a big franchise, but I doubt you have anything to worry about. Places like these I think are overseen very carefully.

@spacemonkeyg78 - I must have been writing my post to the other two replies when you replied too! Thank you, I'm really glad to hear that. Oddly enough at 94 years of age her health is pretty good, few health issues but nothing major. She is in better shape than most 70 year olds, god bless her! lol! I like to hear they treat everyone as individuals because she isn't your typical 94 year old in every way possible! Thank you for posting!!!

Thank you..I'm worried and I know she is very concerned about how it will be. She isn't someone who likes change. You've all made me feel better about the company, thank you!!!

When you have family in such a facility, visit a minimum of three times a week! This is extremely important. The staff knows who has family visiting regularly and will make sure your mom or dad is very well taken care of.
