info on pensacola fl. area

U.S.A. Florida

I'm planning a trip to Pensacola with my family for a little vacation. I will also be interviewing at Baptist, Sacred Heart, and West Florida Hospital. I was hoping to get a little information about working conditions and how the nurses are treated. If you have salary info that would be nice too.

Thank you

Ed,

My family and I moved here 9/2003..and I can not wait to move again..The salary is the lowest paying in all job fields..as far as nursing also!! Baptist would be the better of the hospitals to go work for..I am there and the benefits are great..The other two that you named aren't nearly as nice..and the nurse ratio is alot better at Baptist..P'cola is so southern, not Florida to me..but it's all up to the person..

Best Of Luck~~Cheryl

Yes, the pay in this area is probably the lowest in the state (which is said cause Florida is about the lowest in the nation).

As far as hospitals? I haven't worked at them, but, I was VERY impressed with Baptist when I was doing clinicals there. As a matter of fact, if I were to stay after I finish RN school (I'm moving to the Tampa area), I would try to get a job at Baptist. Everyone was so friendly.

Most people like it here because of its Southern Charm....not a lot of crime...pretty beaches. Whatever floats your boat.

I would compare the cost of living in P'cola and other FL cities too, though before you jump to conclusions about low pay. I grew up in that area and haven't lived there for some time now, so maybe it doesn't apply anymore, but the cost of living used to be cheaper there than most places.

I like P'cola and I enjoyed growing up in the area (I now live in S. central FL and like it too), but I agree that it has a different 'flavor' than S. Florida. That can be good or bad, depending on what you are looking for. As always, do your research. Good luck!
