Found this website with good info on infection control for those studying for NCLEX. Seems a lot of posters are saying that they are getting quite a few of these questions.
Yes. There were A LOT of infection control questions on my NCLEX yesterday as well. I had little to none of these types of questions in nursing school. Yikes. Scary.
I have a question about infection control for NCLEX. So I know chickenpox is airborne precautions, but would one really need to wear a mask when caring for someone if you already had it or received the vaccine? Same for measles? It seems no one is really sure what is standard protocol for any of this stuff.
Anyone know anything about precautions for shingles? I gather that if you have blisters - your contagious to those who are not immune.

Shingles is not contageous. It is the sequelae of varicella that remains in the nerve roots after the initial infection. It is more common in the elderly or those with altered immune status. see http://www.buzzle.com/articles/shingles-disease-contagious.html
