I will be starting a new job in the Labor & Delivery dept next week. I was told that not only would I need my stethoscope for Mom, but I would need to purchase and infant one for Baby. I went through 5 adults before finding the one I have now. I cannot afford to do that with an infant. Any advise on what is a GOOD infant that is not overly pricey??

I searched Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-9876668-8224011?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=infant+stethoscopes
Littman (only one model) is $87.50; ADScope 604 is $39.99.
For the average wiggly NB, a pediatric one works almost better than neonatal, no diff in price. (jmho)

For the smaller pts, I don't think spending lots of money is that important. At my hospital, we use cheap scopes that already have the infant head, and just clean them in between each delivery. They are cheap enough to throw away if need be, but are not considered disposables. ( I believe they are the ADC brand, but any smaller steth will work.) If you want to spend the money for a Littmann, then thats ok too, but for me, the cheaper ones do just fine for infants.

I've had better success hearing all sorts of things with the Littman pedi scopes than with any other brand, or with the neonatal. They are a bit pricey, but I hear better with them so it's worth it.

I also have a Littman ped scope. Luckly my NM gave me mine so it didn't cost anything. But I can hear so much better with it.
