I can only speak for ISU since excelsior is not accepted in my state. With ISU you do hand on clinicals they range from 45 to 130(hours) depending on the class, and the cost is $233 per credit hour for phase 3 aprox 9,786 for phase III. There are other fees that go along with the program $360 technology fee, $360 distance education fees, $1200 clinical lab fees and $87 student nurse coverage. Books and TEAS exam fees are not included.

Are you enrolled in the ISU program? If so, what do you like/dislike about it and would you recommend it?
Thanks!:)
I am currently in FL and enrolled in Excelsior. So far, I like it-I'm about half way in. The cost was reasonable and I like how there are many helpful groups online to help you in your studies. The CPNE scares me to death too but I keep telling myself that during the CPNE, they are watching the skills you should know as a nurse. What is there to be scared of? Messing up in front of them? Not planning a proper plan of care or not doing a procedure right? In a way I think thats a good thing. If you aren't doing proper steps to ensure proper patient care and safety, then you shouldn't be on the floor IMO. In a way it sounds harsh but it's also to protect your hard earned license.
If you feel your need more experience, get a PT job at a facility so you can brush up on skills. There are also practice CPNE simulations you can take for extra $$ to help you prepare (some are from previous graduates of EC's program).
Call both schools and write down the pros and cons. ISU was too expensive for me- that was the bottom line in MY situation. Look at the states that accept both degrees in case you ever move and go from there. Good luck, I hope you find one that works for you!
Hope this link works. This is where I got alot of my information.

ISU requires that you go directly to the BSN. Excelsior is to RN.Look around the forum, lealyn. There are a bunch of ISU threads - dig back a little.
:)
Are you in the program? I was wondering if you had already taken NURS 328, I wanted to review my answers with someone since I got some of them wrong.
