ONE more question- a&p at ivy tech together

I've had a few people tell me that they took a&p 1 and 2 in the same semester at Ivy Tech. According to the website this isn't possible. Anyone do that? It stinks that if I decide to go to Ivy Tech route I will have to sit out (If I get accepted!) an extra semester because I will have already passed the deadline because of having to take them separate semesters. :scrying:

All Ivy Tech ANP classes ARE Anatomy and Physiology.(combo)

There are ANP 1 and ANP 2

You cannot take ANP 1 and 2 together at the same time. You have to pass the 1st one in order to be allowed to go forward to the 2nd one.

Maybe they said/meant the same " year". While taking the 1st one, you can be registered as "conditional" for ANP 2.

If you fail ANP 1, you can't take the 2nd one until you pass.

It depends on the program, but in Logan and I heard from others on here about other prgrams doing this too, I finished prereqs in May 08 and was accepted to Fall 08 RN program. Our chair held our apps until final grades were in then made the decision. The letters were not supposed to go until May 30 and classes were finsished early May. She said they only do it for fall acceptance because of the Summer semester falling in between allows them more time.

You should speak to the chair at the campus you are interested in to find out if they do this.

If your school did do this you could do ANP 101 in Fall 08 finish in Spring 09 and be accepted for Fall 09

I also wanted to add that it is kind of a good thing becase it allows you to get many of the co reqs out the way, so you can concentrate on the nursing core.

Good luck!

Because I have a bachelors degree already I have all of my coreqs done except for 2, which I'll be taking in the fall or spring with A&P. That's what would be pretty stinky about having to wait until Spring to apply! I would literally be doing nothing.

yep, I agree that would stink.

you can take anp 1 & 2 in the same semester. i did it in fall 2007. they are accelerated courses. you take anp 1 the first 8 weeks and anp 2 the second 8 weeks. i would not advise it unless you plan to eat sleep and breathe anp. it can be done though. i got an a in both classes. however i wouldn't advise it for everyone. good luck.

how much study time would you suggest for someone doing this? did you do yours online?

i spent at least 1-2 a day and more on weekends and before an exam. you have class 2 days a week so i spent from 9am-3p in class/lab. i would not suggest online, because that would be worse. it is a ton of memorization. you have to be committed to it. my son suffered, because i could not play with him and go places on weekends. i suppose if you are super smart it would not take as much, but i am an average student and i had to really work at it. if you miss one day of class it is a struggle. i have a husband and i am not working at the moment so that is the only way i could have done it. i know others in my class that was single moms and working. my hat went off to them. i really don't know how they did it. so think twice about it. to get into ivy tech you really need and a in the pre req's. i have one b and i have only made the alternate list. i know others have made it, but it is a risk.
