Thanks everyone. I wasn't worried about the redness, but it was the swelling. Is this a dumb question (probably), but is swelling different than induration? Can anyone explain the difference? It was swollen bigger than 10 mm, but I guess I just don't know the difference! I don't have a family Dr. or insurance (thank goodness for my new job!) so I'm kind of stuck. I'm sure I'm fine, I guess I just needed strangers to tell me that! :) Thanks

Someone please tell me I'm imagining here... I have NOT started nursing school yet, so I promise I don't think I know what I'm talking about, but the nurse who read my tb test for a new job at clarian worries me. I had a TB test a couple of years ago and it was fine with no redness, swelling, etc. This one I got on Tuesday was fine at first, but last night swelled up. It's not blistering, sore, or gross looking, but it did swell. The swelling is still apparent, but really slight. She said that a positive TB test will look like a sore and crusty. Everything I can find online says that swelling is a sign of a positive test. Am I misreading? Anyone have anything similar? I have to get another one August 19th and I'm worried now that I shouldn't be getting it. Does anyone have the knowledge to put my fears at ease?

This is probably a stupid question, but are they in a different category than regular employees? I guess I just assumed that since regular PT and FT workers get tuition reimbursement there that externs would be the same way, but I could totally be wrong. Sorry no help!

Thanks, I just found the course schedule/outline online. I guess I just don't understand why semesters 3 and 4 are part time. That makes no sense to me. Why divide what could be 1 full time semester into 2 part time ones. According to their list, there are 14 credits to be taken between semesters 3 and 4. That's only 7 a semester and not even enough to still be considered 3/4 time for enrollment purposes. Do the clinical times conflict or something? I must be missing something.

Sorry... just following up to my own message since I don't know how to edit... I am correct in my info that IUPUI doesn't look favorably at Ivy Tech pre-reqs correct? I know it's competitive enough to begin with so I wouldn't want to do anything else to jeopardize!

A few questions if you don't mind! I have a feeling nobody will know, but thought I'd give it a shot! I cannot get a hold of anyone in the nursing dept. at IUPUI so feel kind of clueless right now. Is anyone in this program or have gone through it already? How many students are accepted each semester? Do you know the admissions statistics as far as gpa, how many applicants, etc.? Do they factor in your entire academic record or just certain classes like Ivy Tech? Thanks for any help.

Thanks, I have been inquiring about IUPUI's second degree program but it's ridiculously hard to even get an answer from someone. I'm just confused because it affects my prereqs. IUPUI won't take ivy tech prereqs, well they'll take them but look more favorably for admissions at IUPUI classes. Getting IUPUI nursing school prereqs for Ivy Tech is overkill since there are more than needed. So here I sit... registered for prereq clasess at both schools and not sure what to do lol!

I was under the impression that since Ivy Tech's program (and other ASNs) are associates degrees they could be completed in 2 years. I just got a smack in the face when the Indy RN advisor emailed me back and told me that the nursing courses alone (since I will have all of the prereqs and coreqs done) are 4 semesters. Nothing against Ivy Tech at all, but I could go to IUPUI and get the second BSN in less time than their ASN! That seems absolutely bizarre. Can someone confirm to me that it is in fact 2 years just for the nursing courses? Now I feel like I'm completely back at square one figuring out where to go.

How many hours would you say you put in studying outside of class during your nursing courses (prereqs aside)?

Nah, online tones are hard to tell. Sadly I am extremely bound by cost. I have an undergrad degree already and have near maxed out my undergrad loans. I basically need to get through this will as little money as possible...

I do "just get that" actually. I've looked into their schedule and days are the best schedule for me. I cannot do evenings. For others that aren't in my place, where would you recommend? I am not familiar with any night or weekend RN programs in central Indiana even if that were something i could do. As an aside... I see you live in Avon. I live right down the road in Danville.

Because I have a bachelors degree already I have all of my coreqs done except for 2, which I'll be taking in the fall or spring with A&P. That's what would be pretty stinky about having to wait until Spring to apply! I would literally be doing nothing.
