I am considering moving to Indiana to be closer to family. Can anyone give me some input on what jobs are like in the Indianapolis/Carmel area? How autonomous are CRNAs? Is Indiana an opt out state? Thanks so much for any input. If you would like to send me a private message that would be great too!

Are you willing to move to Terre Haute? There are 2 hospitals here, one that just poured millions into an expansion and they are getting ready to redo their NICU/L&D area. If you are into LTC there are several nursing homes here plus it is close to Indy, and if you are able to have both a Indiana and Illinois License, Terre Haute is close to the Illinois border plus it is close to Brazil and Clinton, who also have hospitals. It is my opinion that I live in a pretty good area as far as job possibilities go, of course that is when I actually get through the program (which I won't apply for for another few months), but Union Hospital is hiring, their addy is Union Hospital :: Terre Haute, Indiana the benefits are appealing--hth.

Folks, this is the CRNA section. The person is looking for a CRNA job - not a "regular" nursing job.
oops--sorry

Indiana is not an opt out state, you can see a list of the 16 on the AANA website. The word on the street is that it's pretty MDA dominated but I don't have any personal knowledge.

Hi Loveanesthesia, would you know anything about WA state by any chance? I am CCRN for 12 years, looking to graduate from CRNA program now, also have NP education.. Currently, attending school in Florida where CRNA practice is very limited and heavily dominated by MDAs. Would love to move to Washington or Oregon states. Do you have any word of advice?
Thank you so much.
