I have a question and can't seem to find the answer here on allnurses. I could've sworn I read something about this once, but can't find it now--I apologize.
If a nurse contracts with a company such as LifePlans to perform in-home assessments, is it a conflict of interest to sign up with another company to do the same type of work? Or is this simply like working for two different agencies?
Also, if anyone can recommend any companies other than LifePlans, I would appreciate any info.
Unless your contracts specify you may not work for a competitor, I don't see any conflict. You are doing assessments, not corporate espionage. I'm sure that there are no proprietary secrets you could share about business methods other similar companies didn't already know about.
I am contracted through an agency and the only thing I couldn't do is bypass that agency and work through directly with the hospital. I think I can't work there for a few months after leaving this agency. Check the contract, it will let you know what you can and can't do.
