State school that finds preceptor for the students that are in the area of the school. School thats have a diagnostic course. Schools that have other associated healthcare programs such as DPT, Pharm-D, MD etc. School that faculty have available CV's to look over and evaluate. Schools that accept high quality students. Schools that have a cap on the amount enrolled reasonable to the staff available.

U.S. News and World Report publishes rankings of NP programs. You can start there. I graduated from Johns Hopkins in Dec 2017 and was very happy with my experience: school found all preceptors, very experienced and knowledgeable instructors, very supportive faculty and students, minimal "fluff" courses, lots of help and support preparing for job search, everyone in my graduating class had job offers before graduation, and a great reputation that is a definite plus for that first job search. While I couldn't accept the job offer I had from a clinical rotation, as I had to return to California, once I began a serious job search I ended up with 9 excellent job offers within 3 months and am very happy with my first job. Look for a state-accredited school. Because Hopkins has a large medical medical campus with the hospital, nursing school, medical school, and school of public health co-located, there are lots of interdisciplinary learning opportunities and great lectures available to all students. Another consideration is the alumni network. If you know where you want to practice as an NP, also look for schools with good regional alumni networks. For example, for Southern California you can't go wrong with any Univ of Calif or Calif State Univ NP school, as well as reputable private schools like Univ of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing.
