If the schedule is what you hate....work in clinic! Forget the hospitals! I've never worked in hospitals as an RN for that reason. Weekends and evenings, no thank you. I have two babies at home. I work Mon-Thurs 8:30-5:00pm for the last 2.5 years in an OBGYN clinic and I love it! I really would recommend clinic, its a whole new world.

It's for either FNP or WHNP. I haven't decided yet so instead this fall I'm going to take stats and physical assessment until I can figure out with program to apply for next fall. I work Monday through Thursday, but I have two kids. So I'm wondering if the combo is way too much! Thank you so much for your advice, I really appreciate it!

I'm doing "non-matriculating courses" at Frontier BEFORE I apply to the program, so I can get some out of the way slowly. I work full time, so the full time program for MSN-FNP wasn't an option for me. I'm taking both statistics & physical assessment (n400 & n404) this fall. While working full time.....is this too much? Do you think I'm digging myself a D- grave?!

I'm stuck in this same boat. I am trying to figure out FNP or WHNP. I have zero interest in seeing male patients or elderly patients, buuuuuut I want to get a job. I don't want to wait around and not get hired, because in Minnesota where I live, WHNP's are not getting hired often.

In your opinion, what are the most reputable/impressive schools that have a Nurse Practitioner or FNP program?

Thanks you guys. I appreciate the feedback. The area I live in has both WHNP and FNP opportunities but hearing that Frontier has substantial womens health coverage is very comforting. I have heard so many horror stories about FNP programs with a speck of womens health covered. I really hope Frontier does it well! I think I might go with FNP!

I'm in the process of applying to Frontier (among other) to become a nurse practitioner. I need to start the application process but I am completely stuck....I cannot decide on FNP or WHNP. My heart is in womens health. I work in it now, it interests me, and I want to work in it as my first choice. However, I have been told until I'm blue in the face, that FNP is a better choice due to the fact that I'm more desirable to hire/more flexible/easier to find a job. The thought of managing an old man's diabetes however, does not interest me in the least. I feel like FNP is just too much to cover and thus I won't master anything, and instead, I will just know a little about each subject. Aaaah! Any feedback from nurses who also struggled with WHNP vs. FNP?
