In Search of Nurse Informatics Preceptor

Published

Hello, my name is LaTeisha and I am completing my final two classes at WGU in their MSN-nurse informatics program. My classes have been on hold for two terms now due to my not having a preceptor. I am an RN in New York and the preceptor should be a master-prepared registered nurse who is registered in the state of New York. All of the preceptorship duties are done remotely, there are no required number of practicum hours and the student does not need to present to the assigned site unless the student and preceptor agree upon their meeting. The preceptorship is guided as a resource for the student to fall back upon if there are questions about the project the student needs to complete. Said project does not have to be implemented, it is a mock project

Preceptors do not have to be informatics nurses, they need to have worked in the EMR for the past 2 years and be MSNs. Please help me. Thank you so much.

Hello. My name is Jheric Losadio Ganancial and I am a current MSN-MHI student at Grand Canyon University. Per our program requirements, I am required to have a practicum experience. This experience is non-clinical and will consist of 200 hours working alongside a qualified preceptor in their day to day projects and activities. My preceptor will need to be a master's prepared nurse with an active RN license and a Master's degree in Healthcare Informatics, Bioinformatics, Public Health Informatics, HIM, Information Technology, Nursing Informatics or other graduate degree in a related discipline. My preceptor should have a minimum of two years' experience within informatics. I will be completing my practicum for 16 weeks, starting as soon as a class is available. Would you happen to know if there would be any availability for a placement within these dates? If so, I am more than willing to go into more depth regarding objectives for the practicum and more.

Thank you.

Hi LaTeisha,

I am also a Nursing Informatics student from New York, and I was wondering if you were able to find a preceptor?

P.S.

I hold both MSL and California RN, and I prefer virtual practicum.

I live in Washington State and can work with a preceptor who lives in another state.

Preceptor Qualifications:
·Holds an unencumbered and current nursing license.
·Must hold a master's degree in Nursing.
·Minimum of 2 years current work experience in informatics. This can be within a hospital or clinic setting/virtual.
·Minimum of 3 months at current employer.

Hello! Did any of you find a preceptor? I'm about to have to withdraw from my institution because I can't find a preceptor. I've called/emailed many health care spots, with no luck. I am an Epic analyst and thought my employer would pick me up, but they cannot.
any leads would be much appreciated.
thank you,

Elizabeth

Hello, everyone. I am in search of a nurse informatics preceptor. I am Patrick, and I live in Charlotte, NC. I am three classes away from completing my MSN in nurse informatics at Chamberlain University. I am willing to travel to complete my hours when necessary. I appreciate any help you can provide.

I think I am ready to go back for my Masters. I was looking at the WGU Master in Nursing Informatics. For anyone in this program when did have a preceptor line up?

@Golden_RN Hello Golden, how are you. I wanted to see if you are still reception for Informatics?
