In a restricted state

This is not to rant on MD's. In fact I have I son who will be going to medical school. However it is becoming impossible in my state to run my own clinic. I LOVE what I do.....everyday. The fees we have to pay almost negate having your own business. I have been hired and fired so many times (budget cuts) that I gave up and started this. I'm not rushed. My patients get plenty of time and they spread the marketing for me. I know I could move to AZ and this would be a non issue. I just do not want to move. Do you, my colleagues believe we will see the day we can do this in any state. Most collaborative get 3 to 20k a month. That is straight off the bottom line. I know I am rambling but just finished up my balance sheet for July. Thoughts?

It is definitely doable but requires a strong state NP organization willing to hire lobbyists and get house-senate support. I'd rally with your colleagues who you know would be willing to assist in addressing this issue as it will be time consuming and can take years to come to fruition.

Unfortunately in my experience very few NPs are willing to make the sacrifices needed to pursue significant change and instead either rely on a few of their peers hard work and reap the benefits or just complain about the present situation. Good luck.

Have to agree with Jules. Also...not many people are cut out to run their own business...it is HARD! It is much easier to go to work and let someone else take all the responsibility so one can go to work then go home and not worry about things like "will there be enough money for payroll, what about the insurance increase, what about unemployment increase, what about covering vacations....":nailbiting:
