In process, after evaluation, rpp wants 1 year monitoring without having a diagnosis

Published

Over the last year, I've had multiple surgeries, blood clots, you name it, I was Only able to work prn due to my health, an ex co worker reported me using an illecet drug, I dont even use in my vocabulary. I was prescribed high doses of pain medicine from my md until I was months from my blood clot and it was safe to have another surgery. Post surgery I feel Wonderful now and not on any pain meds! I was called by the investigator with the allegations, answered minimal questions

Then immediately retained a lawyer. I met With rpp had my hair test completed which came back fine, had my evaluation done, and they were not able to diagnose me with a narcotic problem. Finally rpp called and stated because there wasn't enough evidence to diagnose me with they are still requiring me for one year drug testing and complete abstinence. I think It's ridiculous. One I dont Have a problem, I had true medical conditions and had to wait for my second surgery and two with no diagnosis how can they just make me do this. I supplied all my medical info to my attorney and she will be giving that to the investigator, long story short, I'm wondering if the LLR BON has ever overturned or dismissed this recommendation from rpp. To me is senseless. I understand The use of pain medicine is bad but when you truly need it, that's what it's there for. Now that I'm off them, obviously I dont Have a drug problem, but they're requirements with RPP, they want me to come off my add meds I've been on for 15 years. I'm not comfortable with that. I know There's other alternatives but if it's not broke don't fix it. Bottom line, anyone every had an experience where they have dismissed the RPP recommendation? Any advise would be much appreciated. ************************************************************

Great big stinking pile of poop. And I've had a couple drinks since being in but it was our anniversary, so early in the program, what are yalls thoughts?

Beazy:

You gotta play by their rules!!!! If you aren't supposed to drink and are subject to pee test for gods sake don't drink or you can turn this mini-stint in Purgatory into that which is basically an open-ended affair. Flunk a pee test and its like giving the idiots a ticket to the all you can torture Beazy buffet. If you don't comply they are gonna start doing to you what happened to the rest of us and I would barely wish that on the ghost of Hitler. You seem like a nice person. Play the damn game and get these vampires out of your life.

Omg, this is giving me a panic attack!!! NO NO NO! I don't care if it's stupid and unnecessary, as it clearly is, if you signed a contract saying no alcohol then you can't drink!!!! You are SO SO SO VERY LUCKY that you are in a 1 year program. Most of us are in for 3-5 years! Just jump through the hoops, do NOT give them ammunition to go after you for a full term 5 year monitoring contract!! Don't do it! I think the ETG tests can test up to 80 hours after alcohol is consumed, so you can't even risk a drink on a weekend if you get tested on Monday or Tuesday it will still show up. PLEASE take this seriously!

Yeah ETG is 80 hours and PETH is 3 weeks I think. There is no way I'd drink. Hell I'm afraid of a false positive for ingesting something unwittingly

I completely agree. It's a one size fits all. My lawyer says they rarely ever overturn the RPP recommendation even without a diagnosis. But it is what it is I guess

Is you lawyer familiar with professional practice and license protection cases. If not you need to get one who is. You need someone who will aggressively fight for you especially since you don't appear to have an actual addiction issue. I 'm sure you paid a retainer so get your money's worth, If you are not happy with your present attorney seek an 2nd opinion . Here's a link to an organization that does license defense.

Thank you for your reply, I've already missed up, even so early into the program. It's my fault and I take Full responsibility but what should I do Next call my recovery specialist or what till they contact me saying yep you pissed for alcohol. I'm kicking myself. I loathe Being in a program I'm subject to but don't need, it's ridiculous. I just want this to be over with. I'm so over it and I'm just in the beginning, for what? Nothing. It doesn't make sense, they just want my money and to keep their jobs

Yeah it makes no sense but that doesn't matter. You have to learn to embrace the reality of where you are at. They have a gun to your nursing license and if you want to keep it you gotta comply. I'll never say anything good about these programs as they are but they have all the power
