In Memory of those who died in Arizona

I know we are all mad about what happened at the University of Arizona. We already have a threat about the shooting but when I looked at it I felt that it turned more into a debate about gun-controll than anything else.

Fellow Nurses; I urge you to leave your differences beside. I want this threat to be a beacon on light and hope towards the staff, students and families affected by this tragedy. I hope that after everyone has responded we will be able to send this trheat to the UofA as a small support. That they know that there are nurses out there who feel for them and pray for them. Please leave your feeling about gun control out of this threat and offer support and symphaty to everyone affected.

I pray for everyone that has been affected in any part by this tragedy, and so do my classmates in my nursing class.

God Bless all of you,

Marcus Kesler, Western Oklahoma Technology Center, Practical Nursing Class of 2003

It is very sad and tragic.

I have one male in my program and we discussed the shootings in a class today.

Prayers and sympathy going to to all those affected, it's very sad indeed.

:o

My prayers go out to the victims and their families!!!

Hi, I'm not a nurse; I just come here by way of a story on Metafilter.

I wanted to add my voice in condolence. I also want to say that I was so moved by Cheryl's essay, in the light of what happened in Arizona, that I have decided to destroy my AR-15 rifle and Glock pistol.

I'm not trying to stir up any debates about gun control - this is neither the place, nor the time. It's one of the few concrete things I can do to ensure that these particular weapons can never be used to destroy human beings, which is my answer (and my expression of thanks) to Cheryl.

Love, strength and gratitude to all the nurses everywhere, adding the weight of this incident to the others you bear every day.

Thank you, Adam, for your kind words. I'm glad that this incident, tragic as it was, may have brought some peace to your life in a round-about way.

And welcome to allnurses.com! We'll let you in even though you aren't a nurse, but only 'cause you said such nice things about us. :chuckle

^5 Adam. Your willingness and courage to change is commendable.

Hits kinda close to home, born, raised, and still live in AZ. My heart goes out to all of you at the UofA. I don't care how much people look back at the situation and say it should have been obvious he had issues. Hind sight is always 20/20. Love to all

I keep coming back to one thought. The three women who died were nursing school instructors. Like all instructors, I'm sure they had students who loved them, and probably some who were less fond of them. No matter. These women were doing something noble. Not happy with just caring for others as nurses, they went further, and taught people like us the art of nursing. Their impact went far beyond their own patients. They made a difference in the lives of every patient cared for by one of their students or graduates. I couldn't do that. I haven't the patience. I hope God grants them the peace and joy their lives have earned.
