Having some difficulty finding a job as FNP in Michigan - seeing many jobs that do not offer benefits! Numerous ways to work around the law such as 7days on, 7 off so that you would only be working 20hrs/week and not qualified for offer of benefits. Looks like I will need to take a job that I'm not in love with - so does any NP out there have experience with in-home Medicare assessments?

Where in Michigan are you located?
I live in Muskegon Grand Have area
That area I imagine is tough. There are more options toward mid Michigan in my experience. Specifically around the flint area.

With my last job I did primary care in patients homes, and at my current job I do Medicare Wellness Visits-in office. I hate them because there is no real learning or building of clinical skill set. These do not require a masters-prepared nurse; many organizations have RNs do them. Very mundane. If you can't find anything else right now, it will pay the bills, but you will quickly become bored. Don't get yourself into a long term contract and be stuck. Home care itself is enjoyable, but MWVs are boring, boring, boring. Ugh.

I do MWV on the side as a contract, both in person and televisits. Love it because it's super easy, quick, and compensation is really good with my contractor. Televists are the best LOL. I had intentions of doing MWV full time right out of NP school but my career path took a turn for the better. Would love to do it long term because of the ease and pay, but it's pretty inconsistent in terms of patients/day and location you are covering.
