In FW starting in May...need some work...

Published

I'm a nursing student and I'm moving back to Fort Worth to finish up pre-reqs and start into nursing school and I need some work pretty badly. I'd love to work at an area hospital doing anything I can. If any of y'all know of anything, I'd VERY much appreciate it if you could let me know!

Students have worked as secretaries, monitor techs, admission clerks in most hospitals I've worked at here in the Ft Worth area...lots of hospitals here and lots of options...Just send your resume out. The Startlegram on sunday always has lots of ads. And good luck.:)

Absolutely, what mattsmom said. Also, it might be worth it to take out 6 weeks or so and get a CNA license if that interests you at all. That way, youre actually working IN the medical field and if you get a job in a hospital or a nursing home, theres a good chance that they will just move you over from CNA to nurse whenever you get the license. As far as which facility to choose, well there are plenty. Just pick whatever interests you and whatever is closest to you. Consider the traffic though. 12 hour shifts are long enough- it sucks to sit in traffic for 2 hours afterwards. Good luck!

Hi,

Just wanted to ask what schools are you applying to? I really wanted to see If you were applying to TCU by any chance. I don't meet too many people that want to go there ( THEY'RE SCARED OF DEBT)...Anyway, let me know, I'm applying there for Spring '05. I'm also thinking about Weatherford College and North Central Texas College.

FYI...

TCU favors applicants that already work for one of the Harris Methodist Hospitals and also (If your interested in pediatrics) Cook's Childrens Hospital is in Fort Worth (don't quote me on that, I might have the name wrong)

HOPE THIS HELPS!:)

I'm applying to go in for regular undergrad in the fall to finish my pre-reqs because the advisor I talked to there said they have limited spaces in their nursing school and they give first priority to the students who have done ALL of their pre-reqs at TCU (they're guaranteed a space if they finish their pre-reqs in time), then second is to people who transfer in to finish pre-reqs, and then applicants from outside schools. I'm also sending out an app. to UTA incase I don't get into TCU or my mom and dad lay down the big "no!"

Hey,

I am planning on doing the same thing. I went and had an appointment with the nursing advisor Z. Williams and I can tell by how her expression was that I would have to BE ATTENDING TCU to get into the nursing program. So, I have completed the application except for the essay (I'm sending it to www.essayedge.com first so they can edited it) I was told that is your key into the university.

What other pre-reqs do you have to take?
