Hi guys,
I am currently in a nursing program where I am MISERABLE!!! I decided to give this place a chance for almost 1 year and I had to tolerate non-nurturing staff (professors, lab instructors, etc) who were rude, disgruntled, arrogant and did not care if I needed help in my courses. Also- lack of ORGANIZATION!!! Despite expressing my concerns to the administrative staff of the department, it all fell on deaf ears. I felt alone, and I was told by a professor, "it is what it is." I came to the realization that this is a money making business- therefore, I am taking my business elsewhere. To add insult to injury, the curriculum was changed and I was told that my courses from last semester (Spring 2008) would not be applied towards my degree. One of my collegues filed a complaint and was met with opposition and told if she doesn't like it; there's the door. No one should be subjected to this treatment. This I believe is one of the reasons why there is a nursing shortage.
Can anyone at this point recommend schools- accelerated, dual degree that have good resources, professional staff and some unification among students. This time around I want to make sure that I do my homework THOROUGHLY. All suggestions and comments appreciated.

My school changed the curriculum while I was attending and as the new program was initiated, those who remained in the old program had drop dead dates to meet requirements or they were out. For example, if you failed clinical for semester 6 and had to repeat, you had a final date you had to meet before the old semester 6 would no longer be offered. I have to say that was a fair system, at least on paper. It made it look as if the only problem to certain students succeeding was the student, and not the instructors or anything else to do with the school. They said that the new changes were not amenable to people coming back to get everything they needed. Hogwash. If you needed obstetrics, you take the new term that contains obstetrics. Simple in my mind. People were screwed over, but not the way you explain. Our school had a lot of students dropped because instructors were concentrating more on getting rid of students, instead of assisting them to pass, while the curriculum transfer phase was going on. I am sure that they were told to do this by the administration because every time this was addressed with the students it was done in a harsh and rude manner. Enough said about that instance. They hold the cards, and you have to deal with what they deal to you or go elsewhere.
