It totally wasn't what I thought it would be. I didn't learn anything about the program I didn't already know . I was hoping to go today and have fun and get excited about being in the program; but that is not the vibe I left with.
This is a slight change of topic...I've heard something regarding us having to be partially undressed in front of our lab partners at times. Seriously? I've had two kids, and there are parts of my body that have gone south on a permanent vacation...and I'm not just referring to my chest! I am NOT comfortable with the idea of exposing my pudgy self to my classmates. Does anyone have more specific info about this, like what areas we'll have to expose?

When you get to 1600s, you'll have to do a physical assessment checkoff w/a partner; you will have to wear shorts/tank top, but that's the extent of being partially undressed. No big deal, really.
Allrighty, got a question for you then.
What is this 100 point system one of the girls in the program told me about? something that some teachers use, which counts for the entire semester and if your 'points' drop below 80 your out.
Also what's this I hear about grades being affected by moody teachers (something about a teacher that cries alot in class....)
Starting to sound a bit strange to me...
The "points" thing sounds like what they were referring to at orientation...that we have to maintain our grade at something like 78%(?) or we're out of the program. I just had a thought though, maybe for clinicals you get docked points of some sort if you're late, unprepared, or not dressed exactly right...if it's not one of those I have no clue!
As for moody/crying teachers, that would really grind on my nerves! I would absolutely understand if they became emotional while telling us about a tragic patient they once had (I'd be tearing up along with them!), but an instructor that is just overly sensitive on a regular basis would be totally unprofessional.
Can anybody refresh my memory about the date we register for class? I'm thinking June 21st, but can't seem to find the paper I wrote it down on...

Some of us use a Dell AXIM and we use the Davis Drug Guide which you will find on-line under the name Unbound Medicine. The software is about 150.00 BUT it contains the Davis Drug Guide, Lab & Disgnostic Tests, Diseases and Disorders, MEDLINE Journals, and a Medical Dictionary. Like I said it was the best investment I made. Plus you can access the site whenever you want and print up your meds to study and when they have updates they email you so you just plug in and get the updates for free!
