why is it important to have a personal philosophy?

quick question what's important, and why do we need a personal philosophy?

I don't know how to take in what you're asking, exactly (as in, was it told to you in a class and you're just wondering about your own?). I feel like, in life, you should have the person you strive to be as a goal in making a personal philosophy, if you don't yet have one. It's not something that most people sit down and think about daily, I'd venture, but something that's ingrained in you and is the core of who you are. Not necessarily something that applies just because you're a nurse or in nursing school. It should stay pretty much unchanged no matter what career you have because your philosophy is what you believe in to your core.

Knowing where you stand on certain things is definitely a part of that (if you can't make peace with late term abortions you may not want to work in women's health, etc) so you can make it apply to being a nurse, if that's what your asking. Everybody has a personal philosophy, I feel, it's just that it's naturally IN you so you don't usually think of it as being one main thing or a list of things.

I have NO idea if this helped or not, but I hope it did a little

This is a question for an assignment. I need to answer, and I was also wondering why it's important to have a philosophy in nursing/midwifery?

Thanks a lot for your reply 😊

Yeah, it sounded like a school assignment in your original post. Why should we do your homework for you? What do you think about the question??

Agree with elkpark - tell is what you think and we can give feedback.

OP: I'm certain your instructor did NOT intend for you to plug the question into an anonymous internet site and submit the answer.
