Forumers have reported all in all about 2-3 weeks if the past, but now the sponsors have to show evidence that prove to immi that the position has not be filled by local/pr, because unvailable/no there, no one available with those skills of the overseas applicant, unlike in the past where immi just rubber stamped every application.

ie if a theatre position, the sponsor must show that they have education available for locals to train in the future for those positions/speciality. Or explain they have adequate training programs in the pipeline so not to sponsor again.

If sponsors are asking time and time again for the same speciality or amount of experience, there can be hold ups, and I have heard recently that they are denying some nursing sponsorships when they have not shown that adequate training programs for local nurses are in place as not to sponsor again. Possibly due to the nursing union involvement.

Fingers crossed yours will not be.

all in all from the time the nomination was approved, wasn't it? my nomi was approved 6 days after i have lodged my visa. so when is the 2-3 weeks count starts? will it going to be after all the required medicals (including the dependents) have been finalized or will they start as soon as the nomi was being approved?

and 1 more thing, have you ever heard or encountered any declines on 457 application?? if there is, do you have any idea how's that possible though??

your'e implying about the nomination, weren't you ? so you mean to say that the immi can still decline applications regardless if the nomination is already being approved??

Immi can decline at any time.

It was usually reported from the time from when the nominiation was approved, which was within 2-3 days of offer, within 2-3 weeks they report that they had the 457 visa, not sure of dependents, as many I have worked with and on this forum have been single and/or awaiting approval for dependents to come over after starting work here.

Are you still waiting for the visa approval? How long has it now been?

I was told by my hospital HR that it's taking longer to apply for the visa these days. How long did you have to wait before you had your medicals done upon lodging your visa??

i did not undergo any medicals again but my dependents did. our 456 visa medicals is valid for a year so i presume yours is still viable as you went to BP this year only, didn't you?. it's been already 4 weeks since I have lodged it. the 2-3 weeks timeline as ceridwyn mentioned has already been lapsed. so i do not know what is happening and what's the reason for the long waiting period. but if you'll count it from the approval of nomination date, it's still 3 weeks.

how many months did your employer gave you to process the visa before your work commencement date starts?? mine is only for 3 months and it's nearly over.

I see. Well, the medicals done on me last year is no longer valid as it expired last month. It is very likely that I will have my medicals done again as soon as I lodge my visa.

They haven't really given my any time frame to complete the visa however, the job offer is good for 6 months and with the way things are going on right now, I'm not certain how long mins is going to take.

im about to lodge my visa this week. In normal circumstances, will it take a month for them to process it or less? Im for the february 14, 2014 intake, will i still be able to do my bp even though my visa will arrive by 3rd week of january?
