Immigration question-BSN RN on L2 visa

Published

I am here in US in L2 visa with EAD. I passed nclex Rn and just got my first job in NJ as Operating room RN(presently in Perdiem position, but they may eventually change into full time). So i would like to have some input regarding the adjustment of my status from L2 to H1 or Green card.

Do the hospital can sponsor me for the visa adjustment and what will be the requirements for that?

Appreciate your responses

Thanks..

As long as your spouse has the L1 visa you can keep working with L2 visa. If your spouse gets a greencard sponsorship, then you can get it too. For now that's ur best bet on getting permanent residency. It'll be difficult to find an H1b or greencard sponsored RN job.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

H1b requires minimum of BSN. Green card for nurses generally EB3 so affected by retrogression meaning due to the long wait most employers are not willing to wait. That means unless you maintain L2 you cannot adjust status and stay whilst waiting for green card
