To all those playing the waiting game...I feel your pain. It has been about 2 months....I was just told that the letters will be sent out next week. Now I am really nervous. I have many thoughts like, how will I adjust to nursing school then I have the ones like...what if I do not get in what will I do???
I just want to know now..... :yeahthat:
Professional Student:I just received my second rejection letter from Fresno City College. Spring 05 and now, Fall 05, rejected. Needless to say, I am totally bummed. The lottery system at FCC stinks! Oh well, I'm resubmitting my application for FCC's Spring 06 program. I wish you luck! Maybe we'll both get in in '06!
Oh I am so sorry to hear that..... it's the craziest system. It seems like they should put the names of the people who already missed a "pick" in again giving them at least 2 entries, and a 3rd if they don't get picked again. Seems like it would be more fair.
Have you considered COS??? Entry is based on GPA..... so maybe that would get you in quicker? What about LVN then bridge to RN? I am considering that option for myself too...... anything to get started!
Fresno State is also GPA based, but at $5000 per semester pretty expensive.
Hang in there.... you will get in !!!:)
Hugs!!

I am about over the nursing school waiting game. I have already been through one round of rejection having applied to Accelerated Master's Programs (an option avaialble because I have BA). When all of those came back rejected, I decided to apply to community schools here in the Bay area. Most of them are done by lottery, but there was one in Silicon Valley that took half by lottery and half by GPA. The way they calculate GPA, I had a 3.9. I was so excited. Finally, some redemption.
Yesterday, I went in to take my TEAS exam, so as to guarantee I would be considered in the pool of applicants. Afterwards, I spoke to one of the Admissions people and she (without even a hesitaton) told me that 3.9 was not good enough this year and the cut off would be 4.0. I was defenetely in the bottom half and in the lottery. So now, regardless of how well I have been doing in all of my pre-reqs; I am subject to the "luck of the draw" entry rather than merit. I don't see how that is anymore fair and I have already gotten one rejrection based on lottery, so far.
I really am losing faith !!!
Hi Everybody! I know waiting is the worst, especially when it's something you have your heart set on doing. Don't give up!
For schools with a HUGE waiting list, I urge you to still apply...get yourself on at least 3 lists. You'd be surprised how many people are on more than 2 waiting lists - that's what happened at my school (i'm in the northeast). I was told in September of '03 that my best chance of getting in would be Sept. of 2005. Well, it's May of 2005 and I'm graduating in two weeks! There were so many people on my school's waiting list that were on lists at other schools (and got in), that out of the first 80 acceptance letters only 40 people signed up for the program!
If anybody out there is really desperate (and has money to blow) you might want to try a private 4 year college (especially in the Northeast)...up my way the classes are only 3/4 full. It may be a bit pricey, but if you've got a lot of prerequisites done you won't have to pay as much.
Oh, (just my 2 cents) I think the use of a lottery system to admit people into programs is stupid and not fair. I have a friend in Oregon who has every class (prerequisite) done (with a 3.9 GPA) who lost out to people who don't have anything done and below a 2.5 GPA...that sucks.
:)
That is what I am afraid of.......how many times should I keep it up or just say forget it! I heard a "rumor" that once you apply twice then you go to a preferred list for the lottery.......basically you get in on the third try. Is that true, have you heard that?. Well I hope so! Good luck to you for Spring 06.....keep us posted. Have you thought of COS? I have even thought of Bakersfield but that would be an hour and a half drive one way. And I am not an early bird :-( Hang in there and don't give up! My name is Sheri too but with a S :-)
Sheri,
I've heard that "rumor" too, that you get in on the third try........but I don't know if there is any truth to it.....I'll keep you posted on whether or not I get in......I'm supposed to find out the second week in May if I'm accepted into the accelerated FCC paradigm program that begins in June. That's not too far away........
