Im on my own

Specializes in Case Management, Psychiatric Nursing.

My orientation of 3.4 weeks is over and I'm going to be solo on the floor and the med cart starting tomorrow. I feel Im ready but at the same time I'm scared to fail everyone says I'm doing great, but in my head my brain is spinning :uhoh3: out of control. Is this a normal feeling? so much responsibility. It is 100% true the first year is hard!

i hope it gets better..

encouragement please..

Not sure i have any encouragement beyond the fact that everyone says you're doing great, so you probably are! I start my orientation on Monday for my first job as an LPN. I will be charge and meds on 3-11...alone for 40 residents! My orientation is 30 days. Lets keep in touch! You will probably be great, I bet you know so much more than you think you do...at least the shift will go fast! :)

I just finished my first week off orientation, and it was good. It is nice to be on my own, and my co-workers are so supportive. I'm working nights on a tele floor. It's scary, but fun.

Tomorrow will be my first day off of orientation and I'm nervous as hell. I don't think I can sleep tonight. Like u they said I was doing great but I don't know why I don't have the confidence. :( I hope it does get better for us all new nurses

Things do get better, but do not fall into a bored routine. That's when med errors happen. Always make sure you do your 5 rights, and you'll be ok.. Always make sure if you have any questions you ask! Congrats and best of luck! :nurse:
