hello i am very excited, i am beginning my first class to head towards getting to the rn program. i have done much research and much thinking over the past couple of years and i am doing it. the first class is psychology, so i have a long way to go. about 5 or 6 courses for the pre-req's and the nln and then to apply for the program! so, in about 1.5-2 yesrs i will be applying for the rn program. hehe, long time from now but i am going to do it. if i didn't have to work full time to pay for these courses, i would just be doing them in the next 2 semesters and applying but i have to take it slow. i have made one attempt previously and not stuck with it, but this time i am! wish me luck :chair:

i am so happy for you! where are you attending? are you planning on staying there for the nursing program? it is so awesome you have finally started and i wish you very very well in your academic studies, and don't be afraid to use this board as a resource!
i remember being in your shoes not so long ago, and taking 1.5 years for prerequesites, and finally will be graduating in may! i remember how excited i was to finally begin a dream of mine and also how scared i would not do well as i had not been to school in nearly 20 years (i only had a ged).
i remember being scared of the nln too but it really wasn't as bad as the fear of the test and the waiting! then there is the "what if i don't get accepted?" fear and the whole jumping through hoops and all! there have been many times i questioned wether i was doing the right thing, but i have stuck it out and you will be right where i am soon.
i have to say, coming in to the final semester- after feeling like i was going to be in school forever- i finally can see the other side and it is just as exciting as the day i registered for my first classes!
one thing you might want to start checking into now is the medical requirements for the nursing program. if you need titers drawn to show immunity from immunizations, you can start that now and save you the added stress of getting it done all at once. any immunizations, or series like the hep b, you can also get out of the way. hoping you have insurance to go with that job to help pay for it!
also start compiling stuff you may need when you apply for the program and keep it handy- shot records, old degrees or credits from colleges, hs transcripts, etc.
i had to run around and squeeze in appts, and miss work and work late, etc to get all my stuff done!
cheers!!!

I too am starting school soon, where are you attending??
thanks! i will be taking the classes between online, and @ nhctc-berlin i believe.
i am not sure where i will wind up for the program, i will do more research, but i am thinking berlin will be the shortest commute.
i believe i have had all of my shots and stuff from when i entered college last time. i know i've got the hep shots and tetorifice, mmr, etc. i will def have to look into it and make sure though. some may even be out of date by the time i enter for the program.
i don't have insurance currently but will be able to purchase in a month or so, though i am not sure i want to because it's double what i used to pay!
congratulations on being so close!
