Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello,

So i graduated from Nursing school 2 years ago with RN-BSN and have been steadily searching for an RN job. I have nursing licenses in California and Washington State and have been working as a caregiver and part time RN for a home health company. Even though i have gotten a couple interviews i keep getting 'While your skills are certainly impressive, we have decided to pursue other candidates for this position.' or similar responses.

Does anyone have an tips on how to get a RN job in either CA or WA?!

If you are looking for a med-surg position, it will be hard to get one at this point. You need some rehab or LTC experience.

Look for hospitals that do internships for new grads, sometimes they have internships for nurses that are changing specialties. Just keep at it, you will get something eventually. If you are willing to move anywhere in the US your chances will significantly improve. Good luck!

Are you looking in the Seattle area? It sounds like you may not have the right experience or no longer considered a new grad for a residency for the larger hospital systems. You may want to try some of the smaller hospitals branching south of tacoma or north of everett at this point.
