I'm probably a little too late for apllying to nursing schools..

Published

I'm a college junior and I'm a Biology major and recently I became interested in nursing schools.

I have 3.2 gpa but As in required anatomy, mathematics and B's in sociology, psycology, and A+s in English and communications.

I also have a full ride schololarship, solid work experiences, and

personal hospital experiences,

but I don't know if I was to apply for a nursing school, I'd get in or not.

I had to work and pay my way through college and one year I worked too much that some of my grades weren't all that great...

(Been on academic probation that year, honestly speaking.)

Honestly, do you think it's possible for me consider nursing school?

I think you still have an awesome chance! But I would say that you will have some research to do about what criteria the schools in your area are looking for.

Depending on the school you may already have the Pre-req's covered and can still apply for the fall. Some will require that you take an exam like the TEAS or the HESI. I would check out you schools website and see if they have a program, if not check the universities in the area and the community colleges as well. Depending on where you live you may have quite a few options.

Even with a few bumps in the road, you can still become an RN if that is what you want to do.:twocents:

It totally depends on the programs you are applying to. In my area, the big university has over 1000 applicants for 120 spots, so unless your gpa is right around 4.0, it's nearly impossible to get it. On the other hand, the CC programs in our area would consider you a good candidate, and we have one private school that only has a 3.0 as their entrance requirement. If you've got that, you're in! So, it's just going to take looking around, meeting with the advisors, etc.... Good luck!

the cc that i am going to only requires a min culm. gpa of 2.5, which is a c+ average. sooo, i think youd be a great candidate and it wouldnt hurt to try.

you have great chances... on the university i'll got the gpa req is 3.0

yes, but just keep in mind that "required" is not the same as average of applicants. A lot of schools will list their required GPA as 2.5 or so, but they don't wind up accepting anyone with grades lower then 3.5. It just all depends on the level of competition of the applicants.
