I have moved your thread to the Canadian Forum where you will get more responses.

What you need to be aware of is that most programs will not permit you to transfer mid-program, even in the same city, state or province, and country. Not sure where you are attending school at this time, but best suggestion is to complete your program where you are and then return home.

Each country can set their own requirements and this is what they are doing. If you want to go back there for school, then you will need to make up those hours. Remember that you are the one that will need to meet their requirements if you wish to go to school there, they do not need to meet your requirements.

Suspect that you started your training in a country where you started in the 12th grade, it this what you did? If so, both Canada and the US require that one has completed the 12th grade before starting school.

Recommend that you take the time to do some reading on this site, there is much information for you to be aware of. And best of luck to you.

hi

i don't know if this will help, but it may be an option. check athabasca university. i am doing my rn-bn there.

au is an online, open university and they have students from all around the world. the university is the only one accredited in both the usa and canada. . they accepted courses i completed in other provinces and in the united states. you can request an evaluation to see which credits transfer.

here's the url:

hope that helps. let me know if i can help in any way.

It may still be that the OP will have to complete the high school credits to be accepted into Athabasca. Many mature students have been required to upgrade their high school education before admission to nursing school, even in the old days of the diploma program. I know because I was one. Other threads on the Canadian and International forums have demonstrated that BScN graduates for some other countries have not been considered to be equivalent to BScN graduates in Canada because they did not complete the equivalent secondary school education. Nursing educational standards in Canada are based on the usual education received by students educated in the Canadian school system, and they will not be relaxed for any reason.

Indeed, that is quite certain to be the case. It would have been a long shot, but I thought it worth a try since AU is an open university....

But I went on the site and they no longer offer the 4 year BN, only a post RN-BN.

How disappointing after 2 years!

If I can offer some solid advice- when it comes to school, it's terribly important to plan ahead, and that may be even more so for BSN programs. A 3.5 GPA might get you a spot in the BSN program at the university I wanted to attend in Virginia.

janfrn and dianabay are so right. It is so important to plan ahead, it seems these days that there is lots of competition for spots in college.

I keep telling my son to keep his marks up so he at least has a choice. Wish I had known that earlier.
