Well here goes, I realized I'm now in the older worker catogory, I mean the thought really hit me over the head. It's a place that feels soooooo weird and uncomfortable and judgmental. I am currently unemployed and want to get back to patient care - have searched for refresher courses without any success - if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated!! I worked for almost 20 years dealing with healthy donors and in long term peds care. I'm so ready to return to nursing patients but can't seem to get there from here. I'm a very young almost 59 yr old wise woman with much life experience to offer, have many working years ahead of me and I'm ready to get started in a new direction. Any other wise women out there in a similiar situation??

Actually you fit right into the demographics, what have your been doing for the past 20 years? If it is not hospital nursing and you are looking to get a hospital based job take a refresher program. It is an employers market so be prepared to work nights and weekends. Plus make sure your computer skills are current.

and heres a link that may help you find one-

Quinsigamond Community College has one as well. I was thinking of doing it after not being in the field for a year.
