im a new lpn grad, and im still waiting for my nclex pn test date,

does anybody know if any place hire a graduate lpn?

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

What state do you live in? Some states practice guidelines permit LPN's to work in hospital or critical care settings while others do not. Many LPN's get hired in nursing homes, LTC, subacute, home health, clinics, physician offices...some places hire new grads others do not. These days very few places will hire before NCLEX is passed & license is granted by the BoN.

Not sure what State you live in but here in Connecticut, GPN (graduate practical nurses) and GN (graduate RN) are allowed to work prior to taking the NCLEX. You are not allowed to work on your own, you must have someone with you etc.

The stipulation is, you maintain your GPN/GN status until such time that you take the NCLEX. Once you take the NCLEX your graduate status is gone. If you pass the NCLEX you are now an LPN or RN and can now work under your own license. If you fail the NCLEX, you lose your GPN status and can no longer work as such.

I was hired at my facility prior to taking my NCLEX. Actually I was hired prior to even scheduling my NCLEX. My start date was on a Monday for orientation. My NCLEX test date was the Friday before. I would find out if I passed or failed on Sunday. But since none of the people I needed to contact would be there on Sunday, the running joke between me and the DON was, if she saw my face at orientation, she would know I passed, if I was MIA, she would know I failed.

I live in Connecticut , and I'm still waiting for my nclex date. that's y I'm curios if they hire graduate lpn
