Time for you to quit cramming and go take a cup of tea and watch A Christmas Carol. Seriously you've either studied yourself stupid (JK) or you're playing an early April Fool's joke!
A:The patient should be given two (2) twenty-five mg. tablets to equal a dose of fifty mg.
2 x 25 = 50
And a total of 6 tabs per day. (2 tabs/3 times daily 2x3=6)
I think you may be tripping over the term "converting." Nursing math is easy. How many quarters make 50 cents? Going the other direction, if cookies are 50 cents a dozen, how many can you buy for 25 cents?
In school, you may have to learn formulas to "convert" these quantities, and being formulas to memorize, they can seem intimidating, but a lot of times, if you stop and think it through in familiar terms, it isn't really all that complicated. And that applies to pretty much all nursing math.
Good luck.

I have my final tomorrow in my math class for my pre req before I can get into the LPN program. I need help with this conversion. Here is the problem. The prescription calls for the patient to take 50mg PO t.i.d. The medicine is supplied in 25mg tablets. Now, the problem I have is converting the 50mg and the 25mg. This problem is to be writtenin English form, which I know how to do. Can someone, please help!
