Hey ladies and gents,
I'm new to this forum so HI :)
ok so my problem is I am a Health Care Aide but I want to become an ER nurse but I'm so scared to take that step... I am tired of doing homecare but don't really have much choice. So, what would you do? Would you jump right in or take your time. Also, if I start school in September I have to do 2 years of upgrading, then 4 years of nursing, then an extra year for ER training so I will be 31 when I'm done and that scares me even more... I see all these nurses in there 20's and when I become a nurse I won't be... So ya what would you do?
Thanks
Mandy :)

It is more like 4 yrs total 2 yrs for pre-reqs and 2 yrs BSN, graduate and get job in ER.
Are you in the states though? It's different in Canada and ER is really hard to get into here...

Depending on what degree you want. Some person from Canada was in here posting the other day that your high school classes count as prereqs so I am not sure what they require in Canada. I know here in the State nursing school is 2 years whether it is a BSN or ADN. The prereqs are the difference. A BSN has 2 years and an ADN has about 1 year of prereqs. I would research schools in my area and find out.

Good day, Mandy:
Welcome to this forum.
If Jesus allows it, I will be between 53 and 54 when I take my NCLEX to become a RN. You are very young; don't let your age trouble you. Should you take the leap of faith, I found https://allnurses.com/pre-nursing-student/how-get-any-846733.html to be helpful for every single class I've taken. Do learn to ask for help early, and often. Do participate in class, do put your heart and time into it.
If I were you, why not?
Thank you.

There's a whole thread on here for nursing students over 30 and there are tons of people on it! You won't be alone by a long shot!
Thank you all for all the support :-) it feels so nice knowing that I'm not alone
