So i just finished my first semester and did pretty horrible. I was aimming for all staright A's but ended up having A- and B- yeah so my average GPA is 3.15 i got 81 (B-) on A&P and B+ on basic chem A on trigs...now adays its so competitive to get into nursing program, most people either have 3.5 or higher i don't know if I should take the chances and continue taking the pre requisite on spring'17, do hesi test and apply for the program or i should start thinking about other majors..reading some posts over here got me thinking if ill really get in the fall 2017 program cuz even some people with 3.3 didnt get in the program and in my school they strictly look for good hesi scores and GPA..Anyone like me ever got into the program please comment below

Don't stress out about it. I will suggest 2 things to do.

1- lock yourself up for a month and study the HESI to get above a 90 percent (no one will deny you with a really great HESI score, trust me).

2-apply to as many nursing programs in your area as possible, chances are someone will give u a chance or waitlist and eventually admit.

I have a 3.17 and I am applying this spring at my school. I am locking myself up for a month to study for the Teas. Although my GPA isn't the best, The program director at my school said they chose candidate based on completed priority courses with a C or better and the teas score. I completed them all with a B. My worse grade is a C in English but that's because I am not a native speaker( it's my third language). I just can not be negative because I so want to be a nurse really badly.

I don't know where you are located, but try and apply to lynchburg college in Virginia, you might (88%) get in.

Specializes in OMFS, Dentistry.

Don't give up. Do the best you can from now until then. If you don't get in, try again...... I have seen people get accepted with less of a GPA. Think positive and have faith... You can do it!!!

Do not lose hope!!! Continue taking prerequisites. You should apply to other nursing programs as well. If this is something you really want to do you can do it! I did not get into my first choice nursing school in Fall, I was devastated. But I applied to another school, took the Kaplan pre-nursing exam in October 2016 and gained entrance to my nursing school January 2017. I actually had to retake A&P 1 and 2 in the Summer 2016 because I took it a longtime ago and it was expired. Please do not give up!
