Aloha to all.

I'm an RN in Oahu but have been applying to any position there is to be offered, I can't be picky with what job I want since the job market for nurses is terrible. Anyways, I submitted an application to a senior living May of this year but was called-in for an interview last Monday for the CNA position I applied. The interview went smoothly, where they asked me easy questions like "Why did you choose this career?, or Tell me something about yourself and Tell me a conflict you had with a co-worker and how did you solve it?" I got lucky I had these questions asked since I prepared my answers for this kind of questions. The HR was even amused to found out I'm a active RN license holder but applied for a CNA position, she even told me that she might consider me for one of the RN position they would have once I proven myself capable of the role for their facility.

I just got the call yesterday that they want me to be on their team and would love if I can start first week of August. The HR talked about the probationary period, salary and orientation/shadowing schedules for next week and my official work would start on August 6 with a 12hour shift. What I forgot to ask the HR on the phone, if my 12hr shift be paid as overtime or will still be a regular hourly rate. My dad said that its a law that once a person worked more than 8hrs he/she will be paid an overtime pay, but I have no idea if this would imply to CNA and Nurses as well. Can anyone help me out?

Thank You.:nurse:

Congrats from Australia!!!

Thanks! Yeah I figured that one out by myself, no over time pay but still regular pay. I did read the handbook they gave me on my orientation and pretty much it explained there when I would get paid for an overtime pay. :loveya:

Thank you @dreamct. Though I'm on training still I'm loving everything about my work. Everyone at work is nice and everyone treat everyone like their family which is really nice.I really love the work atmosphere they have and it reflect how the nurses and cna do their job with care because of this atmosphere they set.

wow,., good for u,.,I'm thinking how long will i go before reaching wat u just had../.KUDOS,., =D

Did you go for training for the CNA? How many days/months? Im a RN in the Phils and I'm staying here in hawaii. I want to work also as CNA for the mean time but i don't know what to do.

I was just curious of roughly how much CNA would be getting paid- I am making the move from MA to HI and curious as to what to expect seeming as though it seems I need to do CNA work first before even being considered for RN positions...
