I'm getting worried about NS...

I am only doing my pre-req's now, but I'm supposed to start some clincials this fall (I'll be a sophmore in a BSN program.) I have talked to many nurses and have looked through some threads on here, and I am extremely nervous about nursing school. It seems like there are many nurses who hate their jobs and nursing students who can't stand NS in general.

I don't know exactly what I'm asking, but I just wanted some words of advice because it saddens me that I'm entering a caring profession that some people absolutely hate.

Thank you in advance and good luck to everyone in nursing school and I hope it gets better for some of you! :nuke:

There are SOME people who hate thier job in every profession. You won't know until YOU youself enter the profession if you will like it or not. When I read a lot of the posts from nurses who complain about nursing, my take on it isn't that they hate their job, but they hate the conditions (low staff, not enough supplies, rude patients, etc). As far as nursing school, putting the nightmare instructor situatons aside, I expect to be somewhat stressed out since it it lives that we will be dealing with.

There are also threads where people talk about how they love nursing:

Well, I'm here to tell you that I was a nurse for 30 years and loved it. Keep in mind that it's easy to trash something. People who are in a positive frame of mind are busy doing their thing and don't have time to wallow in pity. The pity party people are sitting at home trashing the profession because they are depressed and have all the time in the world to do it. If they weren't, they'd be putting their noses to the grindstone and concentrating on learning their nursing lessons.
