I'M FREAKING OUT!!!!!! Not Again.......

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

In November I received a call from the Nursing program. I was being selected for the January(Winter) Term. I was so excited!!!!!:balloons: But................ and there is always a but:angryfire , When I told them I didn't complete a class because I thought I could take it while I was in the program I was told I would have to wait until the next opening.:( The rules had changed and this class now had to be taken before entering the program. Devastated can't begin to explain how I felt:cry: . I had to go before the admission board to request a deferral of my seat:bowingpur , which they approved granted I enrolled in the class and completed it by the next term. Which I did(enrolled, that is). I assumed the next term started in August(Fall). WRONG AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!:nono: About two days ago I received another called telling me that i am being selected for the May(Spring) Term. My required class starts March 2 and ends April 27. An email they sent me says registration starts March 1st and that all required paperwork needs to be completed no later than March 31st. How can this be done my class doesn't end until April 27. I can't miss another entrance term. My heart can't take the disappointment. I've been waiting on this for TWO YEARS. Someone please give me some words of encouragement. Tell me you've been through this before and everything turned out okay. I have a meeting with the admission department on Feb 6. But I am truly losing it:uhoh3: . Will I ever get into this program? Will I ever become a nurse:nurse: ?

I'm confused. :smackingf

Can't you take the class and finish before the May term? Maybe the e-mail they sent you about the class dates was incorrect. If it starts in March and ends in April aren't you OK? Or is the school saying the pre-req runs into May and so does the nursing program and now they're going to overlap? Is that the issue? Maybe you could do it online?? What class is it?

I hope I'm okay but that's my dilemma, I don't understand what the email is really saying. I'll have the class done before the program starts in May it ends April 27th. The class is called Health Career Core(HCP0130). I have tried to call everyone with a title that works for the program. Like I said I meet with admissions on the 6th but I just wanted some reassurance before then, I guess. I wanted to know if anyone else has maybe had a similar experience.

It's sound to me like you're OK. Go on the 6th and keep us posted.

Good luck!

I think you're fine. Around here in the Houston,TX area, UTMB,UTHSC-H, HBU and any other school really, has conditional enrollments. I've read post after post where so-and-so was conditionally admitted and therefore allowed to complete courses in the terms prior to enrollment of the nursing program. I was concerned at one point that I would only get accepted to my last choice school because I am lacking a visual and performing arts credit which at my first school of choice is satisfied by another class i took. I called them to clarify what would happen if I got accepted over the next couple of months but didnt have that credit and they said that i had till the day before their program starts to complete it-i have all summer if needed. Apparently its a pretty common occurrence.

Your classes dont seem to overlap (unless im missing something). I think they conditionally accepted you (which would entitle you to registering for the next term) on the terms that you do eventually provide proof of completion of this course which you will have done since your course finishes before the nursing program starts. You're just gonna have to jump on the registar's butt about getting those transcripts sent pretty quick. I would even order them ahead so it is done at the official end of the March 2-April 27 term. I think you'll be ok.

smile :)

Thank you, everyone, for your words of encouragement. I needed them. I was just losing it because I can't stand the thought of having to wait any longer.

Don't panic!!! I had a VERY similar situation. All I had to do was to show a paper from my teacher stating that I was passing the required course at the time of registration, and was told that if I ended up failing it I would not be starting the program. Everything turned out fine- and now I'm an RN!

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

I think you are okay, BUT (yeah, there is always a but)......go talk to an admissions rep and talk to them in person and get some kind of paper with a signature that states you will be fine.

Good luck
