Thanks everyone!
I have been reading Iylana Vanzant! I don't know how many heard of her she is becoming pretty popular now she has her own talk show but her books are very inspiring and encouraging and every morning for 5 minutes and every night for about 5-10 minutes I read a section or two out of one of her books and read it. I am almost like her because she had her first baby at 16 and I was 17 when I had my daughter. She is an African-American woman who had her first baby, dropped out of school and ended up on welfare. She had like 2 or 3 more kids then got married by the time she was 22 and was divorced by the time she was 23 due to an abusive marriage. Today she is now many things she has her law degree, she has her own business, she is a spiritual life counselor and she just became a talk show host with her own show. Everytime I become discourage I now think of her and what she has gone through to become successful and then I realize I can do what ever I want to do and become successful too.
You know what I have come to the point where I am not going to be so focused on my GPA. My goal was to get 4.0's every semester for my last 4 semesters of nursing school. I don't think so. Not to say I can't do it because you never know with lots of hard work. My point is that all this time I have been so focused on trying to be at the top, trying to obtain the best grade possible. Now I realized the less I focus on getting a 4.0 the more I realized that I am actually learning more by studying and doing the best I possibly can. Grades are important and as long as I keep my GPA right at or a little above a 3.0 For grad school purposes then everything will be okay. As it stands now at mid-term for my mid-term nursing grades I have 2 B's, 1 A and a passing grade for my clinicals
I am now focusing on what I am learning from lecture and how I can apply what I learn from lecture to my clinicals and vice versa. Sometimes I get to work up on being the best I often forget why I am in school in the first place and that is to learn. If I get a 4.0 or Mainly As fine but I know if I keep doing what I am doing now I will learn so much and will be able to apply it.
BTW those who do not have a NCLEX book I strongly recommend that you go out and buy one. I have a couple and those books are really helping with my tests that I have the questions are not exactly like the one's I have on my tests but if your tests are NCLEX style like mine it will help.
P.S. Annmarei WTG on that college algebra test. That is wonderful considering the higest score I ever made in college algebra was an 80%.
Way to go!
Like Juliepn, when I started, I expected to have a 4.0 average. Then reality struck. I have a husband and three kids to tend to, so a 3.0 or better is just fine with me.
Julie, I'm going out to get an NCLEX book or two. I keep hearing how helpful they are.
As far as reading anything else, I'll try to look into Iylana (SP?), but I don't have a whole lot of time for extrcurricular reading. Except during one of those infrequent bubble baths.:)

I am so excited I just had to share my results with everyone. I thought I did really horrible on my pharmacology exam well I got the results back and I did better than what I thought I got an 85% and that is exactly where my overall grade stands in the class. I also got one of my other tests back in my nursing health management class and I got an 83% on that. Now I am waiting one one more test that I recently test and I have a really strong feeling that I got an A on that. This semester have been a rough start for me emotionally but grade wise it has been going all too well.
Got to go now.
Peace.
