I'm Back

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hey Guys not sure if anyone read my last post but I had given up on nursing because it is so difficult for me to find a job here in Boston. My savings account has also lost some serious weight, so I was in a bind.

I received a couple of PM from members of allnurses, telling me not to quit and hold out hope. At the time that wasn't what I wanted to hear because I was yelling SHOW ME THE MONEY ! Well, for some reason ths weekend I found myself applying for nursing positions and it came to me, if I'm still applying then I'm still interested. I decided to give one of my instructors a call and tell her my situation, we came up with some solutions and an interview with her nurse manager on Friday. It's actually a mock interview but a start nontheless. I set some goals (typewritten saved under goals) and as an exercise, I have to review them and shoot an email to my instructor what I did that day to work toward accomplishing that goal.

I feel so much better, my mom is giving me a loan to fund my existence. It may take some time but the job that is a good match for me is out there.

thanks to everyone who reads this post and to those who sent me a private message, i truly, truly appreciate it. here's to me accomplishing great things.

good luck in your quest thik of broadening your search to different towns and cities

I'm so glad you came back! Don't give up!! Believe me..I was also ready to give up....but part of my personality is that I'm a really determined person....so I didn't give up. And I did find a job :). So glad to have you back...and who else would I talk to around the area???!! :) Good luck with the job hunt. Try applying to Boston Medical. I actually got a call today for an interview but I had to turn it down because I've already started orientation this week. If you're interested, the lady who called me was Ana Griffin from HR and her number is 617-414-1704. Good luck!

Hey Lena RN:

I'm back... I applied everywhere and hadn't heard back at all. I applied to the -Lahey Clinic 45 minutes away from my house -and got called for an interview twice but I was turned down both times. The first time, the NM had an emergency so I never saw her and she chose someone else for the position, the second time after the interview, the NM called and told me that HR decided they needed an experienced nurse for the floor not a new grad. I was bummed, I applied to LTC, nursing homes etc, hospitals near and far and nothing. Well, I'm still trying, I was actually going to start applying to hospitals in New Hampshire :lol2: but I'll stick with hospitals here in Mass for now.

Good luck to you at BIDMC, I've never had a clinical there but I've heard wonderful things about them.

Keep in touch

Giving up is easy, hanging on is tough, but it is worth it at the end.
