Hi everyone,
Yeah I know about the whole retrogression. Im wondering though if anyone knows any places in Illinois/Chicago or even midwest that will still sponsor for an immigrant visa o any suggestions. Furtheron, apart from the high visa demand nationalities like Philippines or India. How long does it typically take for other nationalities? I'm awaiting my OPT right now and trying to weigh my options. I am an ADN. Thanks.

I live in IL though not in Chicago. We still have high unemployment rate and many US grads are without employment.

If you look at the rest of the world in the US visa bulletin you will see that the rest of the world, Mexico and Philippines are the same in being processed and India and China are behind. A lot will depend on where you was born but current processing dates for Sept is Aug 2005 for Mexico, Philippines and rest of the world, India is 2002 and China is 2004
This means currently if you meet criteria for rest of the world i.e not bornin in Mexico, China, India or Philippines you will currently have a wait of 6 years for a immigrant visa. This means once your OPT is finished you will have to find another way to stay in the US if that is your plan.
Thanks for your reply. I actually plan on getting my BSN and possibly Masters during the waiting period. Where can one check the processing dates for the rest of the world? I was born in Zambia, Africa. Thanks
If you go to http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html and go to the current month bulletin and scroll down you will see how the EB3 is progressing for the various countries, just look for the rest of the world, apart from Philippines, India, China and Mexico all other countries are under rest of the world
