Hi Lizzyette,

I have been looking for someone who is attending SSC. Which class are you currently taking? Im working on Chem and A&P I, also hoping to get into the Fall 07 RN program. Maybe we can keep in touch and keep each other updated on whether we get in or not. Good Luck!

Yeah for sure, did you take the psb yet? I got my results how did you do? My results were ok but not the best. That test was sort of hard they did not give you enough time for the test.

At the time I was looking (March 2006), I had just missed the deadline for Fall admission- I, too was looking for a Spring admission program. Unfortunately, I didn't find any. I only turned my attention to a BSN program because while researching programs I realized that in the same 2 years it would take to complete an ADN, I could complete the BSN. So, it didn't make any sense to do the ADN instead of the BSN as I'll need the BSN for my ultimate goal of being a CRNA. And I didn't know that neither Olive-Harvey or Kennedy King weren't accredited; go figure. My cousin just graduated from Olive-Harvey's nursing program last year, took the NCLEX and had to turn down job offers! Well, you learn something new everyday...

I heard Olive Harvey nursing school was not accedited. So is was not hard for your cousin to get a job after graduating from Olive Harvey?

Nope, not at all. She had several job offers before she even finished! That's why I had no idea that the program wasn't accredited until I read it on this forum.

Apparently its not hard to find a job even if the school is not accredited! Thats good.

I'm surprised that Daley doesn't have a CNA prereq, I'm sure that will be changing soon. Olive Harvey and Kennedy King aren't accredited programs so I haven't even looked at them. As for Rush and UIC, both excellent programs, but are BSN programs, which don't usually require CNA. I'm only looking for ADN programs so I can be done in 2 years, and have my BSN paid for by whichever hospital I sign on with. It sounds like you have just recently been looking for a program, were you able to find any with spring admissions in Chicagoland area? I am transferring from Malcolm X to South Suburban because they are starting spring and fall admissions in Jan '08, but am still looking for other options.

I got this info directly from Kennedy King's web site

The Nursing Program is approved by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, 61 Broadway, New York, NY, 10006, (212) 363 5555, Extension 153, http://www.NLNAC.org.

Maybe at one point is wasn't accredited, but it is now.
