IL NCLEX 3 Year Limit

Published

I need help! I graduated nursing school in IL in Dec 2010 and have still not passed NCLEX. I have taken it multiple times and am trying not to give up but I'm losing hope. I was told by a fellow co worker who was in my same situation before she passed that if a IL applicant does not pass within the 3 years they can apply for a Iowa liscence and then have it transferred to IL. Is this true? I want to be a nurse so badly and have tried everything I can think of or have been told to pass. After my 3 years is up I would have to go back to school for another 2 years which I can not do. Please help!!

I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through.

I do not believe that IA has a time limit like IL does. If it were me, I would most likely take a refresher course, review content hard core, then start studying for NCLEX in IA.

Good luck!

Hello! I graduated in 2010 for LPN. My 3 yrs have expired, so I will be taking nclex in the state of Iowa soon. I live in Chicago. Anyone who is having this same problem, u can retake in Iowa! Good luck!

Yeah, Illinois sucks when it comes to taking exam within a 3 year period. Worst thing is there is NO REFRESHER course here. You have to go through the entire Nursing program again!!!

I will be taking mine in NY, where it's unlimited to take. Good Luck to all of us!

hey, chicagoboy.. i saw your private message to me, however, the site does not allow me to message you back privately. I want to know the whole process you went through in application from IL to NY and how long did it take? And did you graduate from the Philippines?
