If you went to WGU and then on to NP school, where?

Nursing Students Western Governors

I'm in the very early stages of researching BSN programs. I am planning on eventually moving on to an NP program. I understand the pass/fail 3.0 issue with , but I keep seeing posts saying people transferred successfully into NP programs despite this.

I am, however, having trouble ascertaining what NP programs specifically people got into. I've been looking for about an hour and haven't been able to pin down a specific NP program anyone from WGU had gotten into yet. I'm not married to any certain NP program at this time, so I'd like to hear what programs other people got into so I can research them.

WGU still looks appealing to me because I work FT, I'm no Spring chicken, and I am financially a bit strapped due to losing my home to a hurricane not too long ago, so I'm still rebuilding my life.

I'd really appreciate those who have graduated from WGU with a BSN and then successfully gotten into an NP program to share which programs are cool with the WGU grading system.

Thank you so much!

Hi Everyone!

I am also a RN- BSN graduate from WGU. I am starting at Vanderbilt for their FNP/AGACNP program at the end of this month. Hope this helps!

In-state or out-of-state? Just curious. I am VERY interested in Vanderbilt's graduate programs.

Cwoods- Is your program an ONLINE program at Southern Adventist University or do you attend classes in the university? I completed the BSN AND MSN in leadership program and am looking for a FNP ONLINE certification program...

Hi Fetchfelix,

I'm so glad to have come across yr post. I'm currently in the MSN program with and would love to move on to Frontier for FNP. I'm in my 2nd semester and I do have a few more to go as like u, all my stuff from UK went sideways too :(

How is Frontier? Are u in the post master FNP or the DNP program? Was it hard to transfer from WGU to Frontier? Any tips would be greatly appreciated :D

Thank you sooo much

Cheers,

Lynn

charcoal717- Can you tell me WHICH courses from transferred for credit to the FNP or other NP program at Indiana Wesleyan ? I did the WGU MSN leadership program and am finding it pretty easy to get accepted to NP programs BUT * I'm also finding they do not transfer credits such as Pathophysiology, pharmacology, advanced health assessment ETC... so I am being told I will have to REPEAT those courses in the NP programs I have found so far... I would like to find one that doesn't make me REPEAT courses I recently passed at WGU...

MMK19- Can you tell me how your experience has been with SOUTH? any FB groups like has ?

I also did the BSN as well as their MSN in leadership. Now looking for an ONline NP program and am finding I can get accepted to some programs BUT- my WGU -MSN level courses don't always transfer so * I am being told I will have to REPEAT- pathophysiology/ pharmacology/ advanced health assessment... etc... * It's almost as if I have to go into the NP program as if I only had the BSN completed... Can you share any info you found on NP programs and transfer of credits from WGU ?

Basicneeds4nurses - Can you tell me which courses from were accepted /transfer credit to the University of cincinati FNP program ?

None of the masters level classes transferred. I was taking the RN-MSN classes but stopped at BSN. There were a few classes that were at the graduate level, but didn't transfer.

I am so glad you posted (and also Kciccone). I am doing the RN-MSN Education degree at . I am 3 courses away from fulfilling the credits for my BSN and have been thinking about going elsewhere and completing an FNP (instead of the MSN Education). It is good for me to read about how the graduate level courses may not transfer to an FNP. I have spoken to Univ. of Southern California about their FNP program and they said a degree from WGU would be accepted. I think I might also look at some more affordable options, too.

did you get your MSN from ? I know many school accept WGU's degrees, but my concern is finding a school that will transfer some of my MSN classes so I can lower the tuition. I was looking into UTA but cant find ANYTHING as to how many credits will transfer over from WGU. And of course UTA wont tell me until all my MSN classes are finished...

Hi all -

I hope this thread is still somewhat alive. I am a BSN grad. I am planning on returning to WGU to obtain my MSN-Leadership then go on to post masters FNP certificate. Has anyone graduated from WGU with their MSN and successfully transferred their credits to their post masters FNP certificate?

If so, which schools?

Thanks for any information!
