If I get my LPN will I be able to find a job??

Published

I have a question here; I have been saving like crazy : )! For financial reasons I would like to get my lpn first then later a few years...after loans, savings rebuilt, etc. is taken care of go back for my RN. BUT, if I do this will I be able to find a job? We live in North Texas..

If I were to guess, I would say that you will have an easier time of finding a job in TX than in most other places.

Why not go straight into an RN program? Does it make sense to spend the money on LPN schooling AND RN schooling if you ultimately want to be an RN?

Hey, there. I'm also in North Texas.

I'm an LVN who has lived in Fort Worth since late 2005, and I have never had any problems with finding work. However, I will not turn my nose up at undesirable jobs.

If you are willing to work in a nursing home, subacute rehab, home health, clinic, doctors office, psychiatric facility, or other non-hospital setting, then your chances of finding work are very good. However, if you are one of those unrealistic LVN new grads who is insistent upon working in the ER, ICU, labor & delivery, or the areas that don't really utilize LVNs, then you will be unemployed while waiting for your dream job.
